we all need the wild places,
with waterfalls, rocks and bees

oceans for our whales

tall trees for owl nests
icebergs for big polar bears

keep poisons from our soil

my best friends name is Charlie
he comes over every day
from where I do not know
but all he wants to do is play
he walks out of the woods
in to my room he appears
my parents never see him
when they come he disappears
it's hard to know where a 10’ dinosaur
goes when he's away
but he doesn't fit under my bed anyway
so it's really best, he doesn't stay

families are of all different kinds
living thru difficult and wonderful times
we all need love, support and affection
to enjoy life with connection
yes, there are many different kinds of families
many have a mommy and a daddy
some kids are raised by their aunties
others by their great grand poppies
some by mommas OR daddas
others by their groovy grandmothers
some by sisters and brothers
others by super single-mothers
some children in the world have no home
left on their own to survive and roam
from poverty, sickness, hunger or war
they hope to find a new family
so they’re not alone anymore
families are of all different kinds
